The Guardians movement, formerly known as the DIABLO SQUAD CB, was born in 1976 in answer to the cries of soldiers and civilians alike saddled by the escalating Mindanao conflict and secessionist movement. From just a dozen, the movement has reached to more than 3.6 million marked guardians of today, belonging to about 36++ aggrupations. The Guardians have not only multiplied but their aspirations to foster brotherhood and service has evolved from fraternal to national concerns. (exert from the UGP profile) This did not only diversify the brotherhood’s impetus, but factionalized the entire organization without a common leadership.
In the late 1990’s, Its National Officers bearing the ranks of National Founders and Supremos, whom in the same epoch retired from military service, established their own “chapters” in local communities. The term “Indiscriminate Marking” was coined. The intentions to propagate the brotherhood’s thrust are becoming absurd and with this, the morale of thecnational leadership was on its lowest. The entire organization was on the verge of losing its entirety. Thus, on December 11, 1998, SGF "ESPHNX" of Misamis Occidental, initiated the First GUARDIANS Mindanao Unification Assembly. This was seconded by the series of assemblies in Ozamiz and Davao City respectively.
Awakened by the efforts of the south, in March 18, 2000, the First National Unification Assembly was called by the new national icon, then Senator, GS “GRINGO” and is held in Metro Manila. The two days convention was attended by the national key leaders of the brotherhood and by the different Regional Representative. The Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc (PGBI) was born. Adopting the 1984 GBI Constitution, it was ratified to fit the efforts of unifying various aggrupations so that matters of national interest will be addressed effectively. It was more less a success; however, some of its changes were also the very ones that lead the brotherhood to total disintegration later on. One of the very salient changes in the creation of PGBI was to allow the civilian arm of the brotherhood - MAGIC GROUP, to be promoted as: RMG – which could be a comparison to Supremo (given only to Officers of AFP), FRMG, NFRMG, and MFRMG. Thus, giving them prerogative to authorize markings and promotions at their own disposals. It was then, when the term “Mass Marking” was coined. The MAGIC GROUP was utilized, FRMG’s and NFRMG’s with their markers were sent to a mission; a mission to grew the membership of the brotherhood from the biggest city in the country to the most isolated mountain Baranggays of a “never-heard-of” Municipalities. The GUARDIANS wine flowed like the endless Maria Cristina Falls and the markers needles bounced like eternity.
The intention was not bad at all, and the effort were in line with the Organization’s Constitution, BUT the problem was, in doing those so called “Mass Marking” the proper protocols of Indoctrination was not observe anymore, and the recruitment were indiscrimately done. At the end, the general membership of the brotherhood went fat that in just a year after the creation of PGBI the total of GUARDIANS in country went almost 3 Million. As the brotherhood went huge the national echelon’s control failed. The disintegration became a cancer and uncontrollable.
This did not astound most of the key leaders of the brotherhood. Most of them believed that the GUARDIANS as an organization was raped by its very leaders for personal interest. Some of them would say; “Na-polika na ang GUARDIANS.” – “Ginawa na Negosyo ang kapatiran” , that its very essence did not matter anymore.

Kung bakit ko kinu-kwento ito, ay simple lang: Ang Kapatirang GUARDIANS ay may malaking problema, at kung hindi natin ito lubos na ma-iintidihan, hindi rin natin ito ma-aayos at sa kahuli-hulihan ay bali-wala ang ting mga prinsipyong tina-tayuan.

Ang titik na “U” na nakatatak sa ating mga balikat ay tumatayo sa salitang “UNITED”.
Sa isang open letter po na ginawa ng inyong lingkod para sa isa ating mga leader, ako po ay nanglumo nung ako’y kanyang sinagot na imposible nang mag-kaisa ang kapatiran; at sinabi pa nya na kailan man ay hindi na ito mang-yayari. Sa totoo lamang po ako ay pinanghinaan ng loob sa mga oras na yun, ngunit napag-isip-isip ko siguro ay hindi lang niya lubos na naiintidihan ang tunay na kahulugan ng pagiging GUARDIANS. Sa isip ko, siguro GARDIANS lang siya (walang “U”) J
Sa kasalukuyanyan tayo po ay WATAK-WATAK; walang isang layunin at patutunguhan. Nasa isang barko pero iba-iba ang destinasyon at ang masakit pa, ang iba sa atin ay hindi alam kung bakit nakasakay sila sa barko. Pero bakit nga ba importante na tayo ay magka-isa, at maintidihan ng lahat ang ating layunin, bilang mga tagapagtangol ng bayan at lipunan?
Ang EDSA revolution, na nag-patalsik sa diktadorang rehime, ay nilahukan lamang ng kulang-kulang sa 2 milyong Pilipino. Napalitan nito nag sistema ng ating gobyerno at naibalik ang demokrasya sa bansa. Dalawang milyon lang po. Isipin nalang natin kung ano ang magagawa ng tatlong milyong GUARDIANS kung tayo ay mag kakaisa. – Mga kapatid hindi ko sinasabi na mag EDSA 4 tayo, o mag protesta tayo sa mga kalsada. Ang punto ko lamang, ay mas malaki ang “impact”ng ating mga ginagawa at gustong gawin pa, kung tayo ay mag-kakaisa. Suguradong makakarating ang barko sa ating nais puntahan kung tayo ay sasagwan tungo sa isang direksyon.
Panahon na upang umupo muli ang ating mga pinuno sa isang lamisa at pag usapan muli ang pag-kakaisa. Panahon na para ayusin ang mga alitan ng nakaraan, na sya’ng mismong dahilan ng ating pagkawata-watak. Panahon na para mag-patawaran. -- Kung tayo po ay tunay na mga maginoo at naniniwala sa diwa ng kapatiran hindi po ito mahirap. Kasabay ng mga hakbang na ito ay ang pagtakwil sa mga “Founder” at “National Founder” kuno, na patuloy na ginagamit ang kapatiran sa kanilang mga personal na interes at pinagkakaperahan. Wag na tayong magpagamit at mag-palinlang, wag tayong makinig sa mga mali-maling mga pag-papaintindi sa kung ano nga ba talaga ang Kapatiran at ang mga layunin nito.
Ang kapatirang GUARDIANS ay I-ISA LANG.
Ito ay ang DIABLO SQUAD CB na itinatag noong 1976 at naging GUARDIANS BROTHERHOOD INC. noong 1984.
Ang kapatiran na sinubukang pag isahin noonng taong 2000 sa ilalim ng PHILIPPINE GUARDIANS BROTHERHOOD INC.
Nagkahiwalay at nahati sa GUARDIANS BROTHERHOOD INC. Mainstream at PHILIPPINE GUARDIANS BROTHERHOOD INC.
Noong 2007, ang pinkamalaking paksyon at binubuo ng karamihan na orihinal na pinuno ng kapatiran, ang GUARDIANS BROTHERHOOD INC. Mainstream, ay nagkawatak-watak kasabay ng pagbasak ng National TRIUMVIRATE nito. Ito’ay nagkahiwa-hiwalay at naging GBI Mainstream, GBI TBBG, GBI at DIABLO GUARDIANS Mainstream.
Brothers and Sister:
The notion that was inculcated by our very leaders that each faction is considered a branch of the GUARDIANS BROTHERHOOD is NOT TRUE. There is only ONE GUARDIANS, and there are no branches. How can there be one, when there is no TREE? Or you might want to ask; if we were branches then where is our TREE? I don’t think you need a Phd to know the answer.
There is only ONE GUARDIANS and our leaders knew it. And, it is up to us my dear brothers and sisters to convince them to poster unifications amongst our brethrens once again. Convince them to sit down and to swallow their pride -- to abide and respect ONE National Leadership. A leadership that is chosen legitimately by them, as dictated by our original 1984 Constitution, and in line with the existing laws for non-profit organizations of the Philippines.
We can do this! It might not be soon, but WE CAN! For it is not easy but possible! And, if we have to wait for the old leaves withered and for the new ones to sprung, WE WILL! And I, RMG Haze II, together with the members of the GUARDIANS new breed, vows to poster this Ideals as long as we remain divided.
